If they were giving out trophies for the most photographed car, the winner would have been Colin’s Tiga (and quite rightly so too). Oliver Stirling (the black car which spun and reversed over Colin’s Lola) turned up to show Colin support at the first race of this season as did many others faces from last year. Brands Hatch was Colin’s first race (and indeed his first time) in the new car during the weekend of the A1 grand prix.
The qualifying was moved forward to the Friday, which saw Colin cautiously qualify in 35th place. He then steadily climbed 11 places on the Saturday to 24th place, which was pretty good considering the memories of last season’s Brands Hatch race must have been playing heavily in Colin’s mind. Not one to be without any drama, Colin did manage to lose his air box and caught his rear view mirror as both flew off around the track. It was “to shed weight” apparently!
